[Case Study 02] · Kowalski & Partners · Corporate Law Boutique · New YorkWork

A Manhattan law firm: eight practices, one standard, a 72-hour sprint.

A demonstration website for a corporate and litigation boutique in a dark magazine aesthetic: numbered sections, an interactive cross-practice wheel and long-form analysis in the Insights section.

* The 72 hours are counted from the Client’s approval of the visual direction (a description of the look, references or a mockup), not from first contact — once the quote is accepted, materials are delivered and the advance payment received. We work out the details and a mockup with you beforehand and aim to fit everything into 72h, but the deadline runs from approval. Time spent waiting for the Client pauses the clock. Terms, section 4.3

[01] Challenge

What usually undermines a law firm online

Typical law firm websites are templates listing every specialism at once, from divorce to M&A, team photos in mismatched styles and page builders that slow phones down. For a boutique handling multi-million-dollar transactions, each of those details works against it.

Goal
  1. 01A consistent corporate and litigation boutique profile across the whole site
  2. 02Typography and colour at the level of a Manhattan firm
  3. 03Full accessibility and fast loading on phones too

[03] Solutions

How it is built

  1. 01

    Typographic system

Fraunces with an optical-size axis for headings, Inter for body text, magazine-style numbered sections. The K·P seal logo, drawn in SVG, serves the navigation, the favicon and the structured data.

  2. 02

    Interactive practice wheel

Eight practices and twelve connections in SVG. It highlights on hover, keyboard focus and tap; on phones the labels give way to a tappable list.

  3. 03

    Insights section

Articles written in TSX: a table of contents that tracks the active section, footnotes, a glossary in popovers and a reading progress bar.

  4. 04

    Structured data

The firm is described as a LegalService, plus attorney profiles, practice areas and articles — every page carries its own schema graph.

  5. 05

    Performance without visual compromise

Images through next/image with a CDN loader and srcset, the hero portrait visible without waiting for JavaScript, entrance animations in CSS. 31 static pages in total.

  6. 06

    An honest demo

The firm is fictional and the attorney portraits were AI-generated in one consistent style. This is disclosed in the site footer.

[04] Sprint log

Sprint stages in hours

The four-stage 72h sprint schedule, the same for every project.

  1. 01Architecture & UX00–12 h

A short brief, keyword research and a sitemap. Every page gets one job and one keyword before a single pixel exists.

  2. 02Code & design12–36 h

The design system and components are built in parallel — straight in code, with no mockups to redraw. Copy is written for people and for Google at the same time.

  3. 03SEO & Core Web Vitals36–60 h

We tune everything Google's crawler sees: structured data, meta tags, sitemap, images and load time. Accessibility is checked against WCAG 2.1.

  4. 04QA & launch60–72 h

Testing on real devices, domain and analytics with GDPR consent, Search Console submission. You get the site and full access to the code.

* The 72 hours are counted from the Client’s approval of the visual direction (a description of the look, references or a mockup), not from first contact — once the quote is accepted, materials are delivered and the advance payment received.
